Early run. Lunch at chop bar in Osu, shopping at African Market- disappointing and overpriced. Then off to Kokrobite beach on the trotro. When we arrived at the tro tro station, we were completely overwhelmed. Carrying our backpacks and looking white as ever, we shoved our way through crowds of AFricans staring at us and selling dental floss until we found some friendly people who tried to give us sugar cane and were able to write down the tro tros to take in order to get to Kokrobite. We ended up needing to go to another tro tro station (apparently there are two in Accra). We caught a cab, who offered us a discounted price on a car ride to Kokrobite - $12. Ok what the hell.
We arrived after 2 hours to Kokrobite beach. Weather was somewhat gloomy and we were surrounded by a bunch of tour groups of dreadlocked American hippies who couldn't have been more than 20 years old. We went for a picturesque walk on the beach watching the fishermen pull in their nets by hand (in a tug o war line). The boats were colorful and could only be compared (by my experience) to Jamaican fisherman boats, maybe Frenchie boats in Coullieurs.
Snuck a bunch of pictures without people seeing (and some with people seeing).
Had dinner (which took 3 hours to prepare) while watching a dance and drumming show which attracted everyone in town at the lodge. Everyone was having a great time, dancers were amazing and singing was fun. The show was extensive and apparently occurs at Big Milly's Backyard every Friday and Saturday. However, since this was "Pan African Festival" weekend, it was an especially big night. We had too much Star Beer and told ghost stories under the mosquito net with no sheets.
