Koff town.
Morning bead market. Some fun and colorful beads. Fun to watch people work and colors zoom by with the backdrop of lush hills. We were unsure as to how to determine "real antiques" from copies, but we had a good time picking up some cheap beads and buying trinkets. It was cool to be able to "design your jewelry" for about $6.00US. People are so skilled with their fingers and so in touch with their environment (something that us Westerners have forgotten) that they can bust together a piece of jewelry in about 10 minutes with hundreds of beads.
Went to coffee shop to have a lovely cup of much coveted Nescafe. If you are a coffee addict, don't count on being able to find a cup of coffee at your hotel in the morning. Although most "shoestring hotels" with restaurants are able to wrassle one up, it will definitely not be on Starbucks time. One recommendation is to load up on diet coke- but that's only if you are in one place for a while. It's not fun to schlep bottles of coke on your backpack.
Plan to stay here one more night. and go to Boti falls this afternoon. Took tro tro and met some really cool teachers at the falls. They had brought their class up on a school bus from TEma. After a few photos (with a 12 year old grabbing my ass and getting detention) the teachers exchanged emails and phone numbers and called us later that night to see if we could meet with them on Saturday night when we were arriving in Tema. They even offered to pick us up at the tro tro station. I asked for a highlife dance hall-- so they are taking us out.
Bought hand carved raw wooden masked "Pepper tree" from Blackus Boti- a local Boti falls artist who also happens to manage the Boti Falls guest house.
Ate dinner at the Linda Dor restaurant back in Kofftown- had red red. Yum yum
